Attractions

The Nimbus Fish Hatchery is an intriguing visit for visitors of all ages. The Hatchery offers an insightful look into the way that fish are bred and kept. The Hatchery is a very popular place to visit in October during the Salmon Festival, where one can feed the fish for free, admire the vendors, and enjoy the stunning river that the Hatchery is located on. It is also a great trip for families due to its educational aspect. The fantastic visitor center located on the grounds offers multiple educational activities and a great array of information about the salmon. Visitors also enjoy coming back multiple times throughout the year to see how much the salmon have grown (the salmon usually reach their peak around Thanksgiving).

The Historic Nimbus Winery, located in Rancho Cordova, is a great entertainment venue. The Winery, which has been in business since 1873, has gone through numerous changes over the years. Today it is not only home to an actual winery, but it also houses two major restaurants, a dinner theater, a comedy club, an indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf course, a bridal shop, and a number of specialty shops. The Winery is the main attraction and is run by Vinter's Cellar. Another unique aspect of the Winery is the 'make your own wine' section, where one pays to make his or her own wine with the help of the Winery.

Sky High Sports is a rather unique theme park based in Rancho Cordova whose motto reads 'Trampoline Floors, Trampoline Walls.' The park itself is essentially a giant trampoline in which one bounces off the walls! Visitors can play trampoline dodge ball, taking dodge ball to new extremes. AIRobics is a 50 minute workout that combines basic aerobic moves with moves that can only be performed on a trampoline, leaving participants exhilarated and breathless!

Parks and Recreation

Golfers will want to tee off at the Ancil Hoffman Golf Course located in Carmichael located a few miles away from Gold River. This beautiful 18-hole course is designated as one of the best public golf courses by Golf Digest. The course itself also features a full bar, a practice course, and a snack bar. The course is well liked among locals due to its down-to-earth nature and affordability.

For a more private setting, The Northridge Country Club in Fair Oaks is ideal. Designed by William F. Bell, this huge 18-hole course has been around since the 1950s. After a long day of golfing, members enjoy hitting the luxurious bar and restaurant, known for its fantastic service and food. Although popular among locals for being a more challenging course, it is far more costly than the Ancil Hoffman Course.

There are also a number of lovely parks located in Gold River and in the surrounding communities. Gold River Park is a charming six acres of picnic bliss complete with horse shoe pits, a playground and a bantam soccer field.
